Week Long Workshop for Science Faculty by IET

The advanced phase of Media Training for the faculty members of AIOU has been designed to upgrade the distance education system and make our educational standard compatible with the contemporary criteria. The IET has already imparted the knowledge and skill necessary for media writing in detail during previous workshops. The next step to this exercise was the "Art of Visualization" for TV / Radio programs. This subject was considered and integral part of writing for media and would help AIOU academia to develop better scripts for TV / Radio programs.

Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Sangi inaugurated the workshop in the Council Hall at main campus. All the Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments attended the inaugural session. Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Sangi while inaugurating the workshop appreciated the interest in the workshop and promised to do every possible effort to make this training a productive and useful experience.

The first workshop of the advance phase of media training i.e. "Art of Visualization" was conducted for the Faculty of Science. Mr. Iqbal F. Jozi, a senior media expert was chief resource person for this training workshop.

The basic aim of this workshop was to provide an opportunity to the faculty members to learn different stages of production, script writing, recording and editing. Script is one of the key elements responsible for the success or failure of a TV program. It is a kind of map, a blue-print of what is going to be said and shown in the TV program.

In order to familiarize the faculty members with media and its integrated use in open and distance learning scenario, a series of workshops have been planned by IET. The academicians along with IET producers and internees of Mass Communications Department took part in the seven days workshop.

Director Institute of Educational Technology while speaking on the occasion said that as he has planned to make the workshop a production-oriented event and it would give a chance to faculty members to learn and share would give a chance to faculty members to learn and share their ideas for program production. During the Workshop lectures about studio discipline, coordination with the crew and shooting of a program were delivered. Emphasis was also given on practical aspects of production as camera work, shots, editing, graphics and audio effects.
