COMPUTER LITERACY OF AIOU'S TUTORS

MoU BETWEEN AIOU AND INTEL PAKISTAN SIGNED TO ENHANCE COMPUTER LITERACY OF AIOU'S TUTORS

"Allama Iqbal Open University is planning to launch some of its educational programmes through online basis distance education system across the world through Internet and Computer. We will have to take steps to face the challenges of 21st century" these views were expressed by Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi, Vice Chancellor, AIOU on the MoU signing ceremony between Intel Pakistan and the AIOU. According to MoU, Intel Pakistan will offer 5 days structured training programmes that will lead to Computer Trainers whose services shall subsequently be made use of for imparting training to the rest of AIOU tutors. This trining would be held in four different phases, each phase wil comprise on four months period. 

Addressing to the signing ceremony of MoU, Prof. Dr. Sangi said that our mostly students and tutors belongs to the far flung and backward areas and Science Laboratories and 40 Computer Laboratories would also be set up in these areas. He said that adult literacy programme of ICT would also be started in near future. He said that by the end of current year or from the beginning of new year, Urdu Online Progrramme would also be started in foreign countries particularly in Europe to teach them Urdu languages. 

On the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Daud Khattak, Incharge, Computer Science Department, AIOU said that last year, Intel offered ICT training programme to tutors of the University out of which 300 Master Trainers were trained, Later on, more than 700 tutors were trained by these master trainers. He said that signing of the MoU today will further strengthen our relationship with Intel Corporation in other areas of Mutual interest including curriculum development, licensing to provide access to the Intel teaching portfolio, access to the course materials available through the Intel Education website to upgrade technical education for the development of quality talent. The MoU will also pave the way for active knowledge sharing and technology transfer to strengthen capabilities and raise standards of excellence within the education industry.
